Mbarara City Football Club have beaten the defending champions, KCCA Football Club, in a live televised league match at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara. 2-1 was the final score.
In the absence of their head coach Mike Mutebi who missed the trip to Mbarara for unclear reasons, assistant manager Morley Byekwaso took charge of the Yellow lads but in a losing effort.
Sam Senyondo first flattered the visitors when he put them ahead in the 18th minute, but 10 minutes later, Ibrahim Orit headed home a Brian Aheebwa cross to restore parity.
The first stanza had no more goals.
The second half started cagily, but in the 70th minute, Bebe Swalik slotted home for the hosts to ensure that they take all three points, sending Kakyeka into a frenzy.
The win does not only send Mbarara city to the 8th position with 19 points but also meant that their caretaker tactician Brian Senyondo is yet to lose a game since returning to take over from the axed Paul Nkata.
KCCA FC stay put in the fourth position with 26 points with two games to spare before the end of the first round.
The Kasasiro Boys return to action against record champions and perennial rivals SC Villa this Friday at the StarTimes Stadium.
