The 2019 Nile Special Stout Uganda Rugby Premier League kicked off in style at a muddy Kyadondo Rugby grounds with defending champions Heathens claiming the victory by 6-0 win against rivals Kobs.

Played under floodlights, the Friday night match was the first of its kind in the history of 15s rugby in Uganda.

Hima Heathens took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of Aaron Ofoyrwoth’s penalty that gave the Heathens a 3-0 lead. Heathens extended their lead to 6-0 late in the match with Ofoyrwoth on the score sheet again.

The game ended 6-0 in favor of Heathens with Betway Kobs failing to bounce back. The night was followed by other festivities to launch the Rugby season. In the games played, on Saturday, Warriors got the better of Makerere Impis with a 17-10 win at the kings park in the early kick-off while Black Pirates beat Rimula rhinos 12-00.
