Central region players dominated the Chess Parents and Guardians Association finals that ended on Tuesday at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala. The tournament attracted players from all regions of Uganda.
The players contested in a minimum of seven rounds in this tournament.
Jayden Kizito and Michelle Kobugabe won in the under 8 categories, while Hamssadhwane Sivakumar was the best in the under 16 category.
Other winners: Shamia Nankabirwa, Ssuubi Kiwanuka, Matthew Mwase, and Mary Kevin Ndagire.
Organizers believe the exposure many upcountry players gained will help improve their performances. The organizers want to grow to reach at least one million junior players by 2022.
