Mbarara City FC and Vipers SC have played out to a goalless draw in the StarTimes Uganda Uganda premier league game that was televised live on Sanyuka TV.
It was an unconvincing start for Vipers Sports Club’s new coach Fred Kajoba as his side settled for a goalless draw against Mbarara City at the Bombo Military grounds.
Paul Mucurezi, who was playing against his former employers, came close for the venoms in the 20th minute but his shot went over the bar while Karim Wantambala’s shot in the 55th minute went inches wide.
Swalik Bebe came close to scoring for the hosts in the 80th minute, but Vipers’ goalkeeper, Fabian Mutombora, saved.
The draw leaves Vipers top of the league table with 43 points while Mbarara city moves to the 8th position with 23 points.
In the other games played on Tuesday, KCCA FC have closed down the gap on leaders Vipers to 2 points, following their 2-0 win against Kyetume FC courtesy of Sadat Anaku and Erisa Sekisambu. Proline FC beat Police FC 2-1 at the StarTimes stadium while Onduparaka defeated Busoga United 2-1. Tooro United and URA FC settled for a 1-1 draw.
On Wednesday, 29 January, rivals SC villa and Express FC will face off in Bombo, in the Kampala Derby that will be televised live on Sanyuka TV. Wakiso Giants, who just signed Gadaffi Wahab from Onduparaka, will take a trip to Jinja to face BUL FC. Bright Stars FC will host Maroons FC in Kavumba.
