Jonathan Egau yesterday followed Francis Azolibe and Steven Umony as another City Oilers player that has in the last two weeks undergone surgery following injury.
He will be out of action for an estimated nine months.
Egau got injured on international duty – representing Uganda at the 2019 World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.
It is to Qatar that Egau returned for his surgery, which was “a success,” the player has told Sanyuka TV.
“All went well, nothing to worry (about),” Egau told us in an exclusive interview. “I started physio already and I am feeling good.”
Egau is now expected to spend at least a month more in Qatar for reviews before he returns to Uganda to continue with his rehabilitation.
The former UCU Canons player sat out both the 2019 Zone V Clubs Championships in Dar es Salam, Tanzania and the BAL Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, before going on to miss the 7-game NBL Finals’ series.
Egau was also unfortunate to end the 2018 season after he landed awkwardly following a challenge in a playoff game against Power BC.
