Uganda progressed to the last qualification stage for the U17 Girls’ World Cup after ejecting Tanzania 6-2 on aggregate.
This followed a 5-0 thumping of the neighbors in the return leg played at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
Ayub Khalifa’s U17 girls’ football team overturned the 2-1 loss in the first round to dump Tanzania as they drew closer to qualification for this year’s world cup.
Margaret Kunihira, Fauzia Najjemba, Grace Aluka, and Juliet Nalukenge scored for the hosts in front of the packed Lugogo Stadium to win 5-0 against the subdued Tanzanians.
Uganda will now have to negotiate Cameroon over two legs in the final stage of qualification.
The winner will book a slot in the U17 World Cup slated for November in India.
