Kyetume FC’s evergreen striker, Robert Sentongo, won big on Monday morning. The goal poacher was named both the Pilsner and Fortbet Real Star Player of the month.
Robert Ssentongo and Busoga United FC’s Abbey Bogere Kikomeko were named the best Uganda premier league player and coach respectively for the month of February at the Pilsner monthly awards held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala.
The Kyetume FC striker who bagged seven goals in the league last month beat Busoga’s David Bagoole and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa to the award while Abbey Kikomeko humbled tactician SC Villa’s Edward Kaziba to the award.
The winners left one million Uganda shillings richer.
In another awards ceremony, six athletes from different sports disciplines were rewarded at the Fortebet Real Star Awards held at the cooper chimney Restaurant on Monday evening.
In football, Kyetume FC’s Robert Ssentongo was at it again as he beat Mbarara City’s Brian Ahebwa and Busoga United’s David Bagoole to scoop the player of the month award.
Kirabo Namutebi won in the swimming category following her success at the CANA Zone 4 African championships winning five medals including two golds. Shadir Musa was named the best boxer after his qualification to this year’s Olympics. Kyetume FC’s Jackson Mayanja was awarded the coach of the month. Joshua Cheptegei took home the athletics crown while Heathens’ Aaron Okoyrwoth was awarded for helping the rugby cranes finish 7th in the world rugby 7’s series in South America.
The winners walked away with plaques and cash prizes.
