Every child needs their parents to show them the way, even if some children deviate from the set path along the way, some remain to live the dream their parents had for them.
Uganda cranes and Supersport United midfielder, Moses Waiswa, is one of those who stayed true to his father’s guidance and is now living the football dream playing in the South African top-flight league, one of the best on the continent.
We spoke to both the father and son.
Mr. Waiswa Ali, a FIFA referee in the late ’90s, is the father of Uganda Cranes and Supersport United attacking midfielder Moses Waiswa.
Mr. Waiswa is retired but not tired. He is currently a sports tutor at Kyambogo University. He says from childhood, his son loved the ball, and it was no surprise that he turned into a professional footballer.
Moses Waiswa, who spoke to us from South Africa where he is based, revealed how he remembers his dad carrying him along as he went to officiate on local football matches, which endeared him to the beautiful game.
Waiswa senior is glad his son made it to the top level.
Moses Waiswa started his career with the Kampala Kids League (KKL), moved to Sweden before later returning to join Vipers SC. Currently, he is plying his trade with South African giants SuperSport United.
