As promised, NBS Television on Sunday delivered on giving their viewers a 360-degree view of Uganda’s only privately-owned international-standards-rated stadium, St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on their weekly sports show, “The Score,” that airs every Sunday at 10pm.
The show, hosted by Next Media Services Head of Sports, Daniel Web Sebakijje, featured two Vipers SC stars, Abraham Ndugwa and Paul Mucureezi, as well as the club’s Head of Marketing, Robert Ssentongo, Director Legal, Alex Luganda, and Public Relations Officer, Abdu Wasike.
27-year-old forward, Paul Mucureezi, who joined the club in January 2020, highlighted “The Venoms” as the dream destination for any Ugandan footballer starting out, “Vipers SC are simply the best local club in the land in terms of players and professionalism, and I am not even trying to offend anyone.”
Mucureezi added, “I wouldn’t leave this club to join any other local club because this is the climax of Ugandan football. I want to leave Vipers SC only when going professional.”
The former KCCA FC and Mbarara City FC player also shared that as he left the “Kasasiro Boys, there had been an opportunity to join Vipers SC, but that he instead chose to join the Ankole Lions.
“I was supposed to have come here before going to Mbarara [City] but I didn’t feel assured of playing time at that point, which I got in Mbarara. By the time I chose to come here, that situation had improved and now I feel confident of at least playing 80 minutes a match,” Mucureezi told “NBS The Score”
On 2nd January, 2020, Mucureezi put pen to paper on a 3-year-deal at Vipers SC, having run down his Mbarara City contract. He had before this been linked with a return to his former employers, KCCA FC, with whom he won two StarTimes Uganda Premier League titles, two Uganda Cups, and one Uganda Super Cup. Fellow topflight sides, Kyetume FC and Uganda Revenue Authority FC had also come into the picture as interested parties.
