State Minister for Sports Hamson Obua has continued to fulfill his promise of ensuring that more sports facilities are constructed in the country so that more talent is tapped.
On Monday, Obua broke ground for the construction of a state of the art sports complex in Church Zone in Kamwokya which will accommodate a futsal ground, a boxing gym, a netball court among other indoor games.
The three billion Uganda shillings project will be fully funded by a Swiss organization, the Ameropa Foundation, with construction expected to take close to one year.
For years, Kamwokya has been known as a breeding ground for young talents in boxing and football with names like Jackon Nunda, Jackson Mayanja, Musa Mudde, Derrick Ndahiro among others all starting their journeys from here.
This development comes barely a week after KCCA directors broke ground for the construction of a 10000 seater facility in Lugogo with a 10 billion Uganda shillings funding from government.
With such, the future of Ugandan sport looks bright.
