“Top 10 finish is good enough for us” Kefa Kisala, UPDF coach

Uganda People’s Defense Forces Football Club (UPDF FC) resumed their training ahead of the 2020-2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Following the need to safeguard the players from COVID 19, the newly-promoted side is camped in Bombo according to the head coach Kefa Kisala.

UPDF FC was among the busiest clubs in the transfer market shopping a number of new recruits in addition to releasing 13 players who all constituted the squad that guided them into the top flight.

But even with all these preparations, winning titles is not Kisala’s target next season but rather eyeing a comfortable finish on the log.

“Everyone knows that we have just joined the league and also our players are still young. So I don’t want to overburden them for greater achievements next season. I want them to display their talent comfortably because I am still building them. You can’t build players and compete for titles at the same time.

Am asking them for top 10 finish and anything beyond that will be a bonus,” Kefa Kisala told this website.

UPDF was directly promoted to the top tier division, alongside Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) as the season was ended abruptly because of the COVID-19 pandemic and since their confirmation, they have made a number of new signings who include Isa Mubiru, Dickens Okwir, Sam Kintu, Charles Ssebutinde, Simon Mbazira, Ronnie Kisekka, Ibrahim Wammanah, James Begisa, Tony Kyamera, and Gadaffi Gadinho after releasing Sydney Ssenyonga, Junior Akena, Moses Kamya, Enock Omakira, Titus Lubega, Jose Maria Lubega, Davis Kamista, Godwin Kawaga, Abdul-Karim Kasule, Emmanuel Egau, Abasi Kiberu, Fred Kalanzi, and Roger Milla Ahumuza.
