Vipers moves nine clear at the top

Vipers SC moved closer to securing a fifth StarTimes Uganda Premier League title with a 3-0 win over URA FC at the Arena of Visions on Tuesday.

Roberto Oliveira’s side went ahead after 27 minutes. Bobosi Byaruhanga’s corner was knocked down by Cesar Manzoki for Halid Lwaliwa to prod home from close range.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Hudu Mulikyi brought down Yunus Ssentamu and Manzoki dispatched the penalty for his 13th goal of the season.

URA were non existent for the fist half and had only one shot on target, with their big threats coming from set pieces as Ivan Sserubiri went close.

The Tax Collectors had a period on top of the game midway through the first half, but were the final blow on 63 minutes.

Mulikyi’s indecisive defending allowed Ssentamu to race through on goal, dink over the goal keeper Alionzi Nafian and then turn in the third.

Vipers moves nine points clear of KCCA FC in second, and can stretch their lead to 12 points should they collect victory over KCCA at Lugogo on Saturday.

URA remains third but the gap behind the Venoms now opens to 12 points.
