Sadik Nassiwu returned as the president of the Uganda Volleyball Federation after beating incumbent Hadijah Namanda and Eddy Okila in an election held on Sunday at the Hockey grounds in Lugogo.
Nassiwu garnered 226 votes to beat incumbent Hadijah Namanda and hopeful Eddy Okila to the top seat.
Okila, who was running for a third time, came second with 27 points, while Namanda got 20.
In the other elective positions, Joseph Odong was voted the treasurer, Ahmed Kiggundu as first vice president, while Salma Kairungi the second vice president.
Before the elections, the assembly dismissed the proposed budget for the 2021 financial year on grounds that the federation did not present the accountability for the previous year and therefore set the 28th of February as the date for a special sitting in which the budget will be discussed.
